Creek Diva: Wrong Time, Wrong Place for Pumpkins and Parties — Plus a Counter Jumper

Walnut Creek police reports from Oct. 22 to Oct. 25, 2011

Saturday, October 22

Noisy. Fiesta time in Walnut Creek, as several late-hour parties all over town were told to call it a night by the WCPD. Readers, how late is too late for a party?

Stolen cash. $140 cash was stolen from a car after it was broken into overnight on the 1700 block of Castle Hill Road. Folks, take all your valuables with you!

Jumper. The codeine Olympics have returned to Walnut Creek! Last year Creek Diva reported a man jumping the counter of a pharmacy to steal bottles of cough syrup. Saturday, a white male, about 30 years old, jumped the counter of CVS Pharmacy on S. California Boulevard and stole bottles of cough syrup at 7:15 p.m. Police did not locate the jumper.

Sunday, October 23

Smashing pumpkins. It’s that time of year again. A report came in at 12:35 a.m. of a person throwing pumpkins out of a car on Candleberry Road. More reports were received of similar vandalism to cars on Whitehaven Drive, Comistas Drive and Nutmeg Lane.

More noise. 3 a.m.: Partygoers all around town were told to turn down the tunes and send their guests on their way. Police also made several public intoxication and DUI arrests.

Auto theft. Two subjects and a juvenile were arrested for auto thefts, misdemeanor warrant and a probation violation at Motel 6 on N. Main Street at 10:27 p.m.

Monday, October 24

Pumpkins, again. More pumpkin-smashing vandalism, this time to a F150 truck on the 3100 block of Cafeto Drive. It broke the driver's side mirror.

Knife removal. A knife was removed from a tree branch at Walnut Creek Christian Academy at 3:12 p.m. The knife was properly disposed of.

Burglary. A home on the 400 block of La Vista Road was burglarized, with a laptop, bicycle, jewelry box and its contents reported stolen.

Tuesday, October 25

Not the first time. Catalytic converter theft #18373681. This one was taken off a Toyota truck that was parked on the 2700 block of Oak Boulevard. Creek Diva wonders if the WCPD has the means to hold a sting to capture this criminal.

Creek Diva tip: If you don’t want a solicitor to knock on your door, put a sign up that says just that. A caller phoned police after she was hassled by a solicitor in her neighborhood who did not have proper work permits.
