Family Dynamics of Search for Missing Teen

Walnut Creek police say mother of Las Lomas student Larissa Huntsman, 16, is not cooperating with investigators.

Two weeks later, police are still looking for , a 16-year-old student who was last seen walking off the Las Lomas High campus Aug. 24.

The police investigation has delved into family dynamics. Walnut Creek police issued an alert Thursday noting that the teen's mother, Laura Huntsman of Walnut Creek, has not cooperated with investigators trying to locate her daughter. Huntsman's parents do not have custodial rights to her, police said.

Police are examining the possibility the teenager disappeared with the help of a relative or other adult, according to the alert. They say they have no information to indicate a stranger kidnapped Huntsman.

Huntsman has a medical condition that requires her to take medication daily, and police believe she is not now taking the medication.

The 16-year-old is about 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 125 pounds and has brown eyes and hair, according to police. She was last seen wearing a blue V-neck shirt, blue jean shorts and blue sneakers.

Anyone with information about Huntsman's whereabouts is asked to contact the WCPD at (925) 943-5844.
