UDPATE: Traffic Stop of Stolen Car Leads to Search and Arrest of Two from Concord

Police stop car around Second Avenue Monday morning and a search ensues when suspects jump from the car and try to run away.

Walnut Creek police arrested a Concord woman and man Monday on probation violations and other charges after the two bailed from a car, reportedly stolen from Antioch, and led police on a massive search around Second Avenue.

Lt Bryan Hill says the event started around 9 a.m. Monday when an officer spotted a suspicious looking car and its occupants at a gas station along North Main Street. The officer checked the vehicle's license plate and learned it had been stolen from Antioch.

The car's occupants likewise spotted the officer, and the driver, later identified as a 26-year-old woman, make some quick maneuvers to get away from the officer.

The officer followed, and somewhere around Second Avenue, the car stopped, and the woman and man jumped out and made a run for it. Police caught up with the man fairly quickly but the woman eluded capture for several hours.

Hill said police dispatched K9 units and received help from a CHP helicopter to search for the driver. Several hours later, an alert citizen reported seeing the woman trying to throw things away in some bushes, and police found and arrested her.
