Punching the Crosswalk, 'High' Schoolers, Road Rage to Ice Cream

The following information was taken from the Walnut Creek police log and rewritten by Walnut Creek Patch.

Wednesday, May 1, 2013

6:03am – A woman who swears she locked her car reported a laptop, camera and other items missing from a car that showed to signs of forced entry, on the 1900 block of Cannon Place.

12:12pm – A woman reported that a white male adult on the 1100 block of S. Main St. kicked her stroller really hard, then “punched the crosswalk.” We’re hoping with both hands that the stroller was empty, but we’re scratching our heads over how someone punches a crosswalk. The woman just wanted police to be advised in case the guy did something even more violent.

1:43pm – A student at Las Lomas High School was reported under the influence of marijuana, and was reported to police. The student admitted to smoking in the creek on the way to school, and his parents were contacted. His parents and police had a long talk with him. That was undoubtedly not how he expected his day to unfold.

3:11pm – A heavyset Hispanic male adult in a white t-shirt was arrested for using a credit card that didn’t belong to him in a store on the 1000 block of S. Main St.

8:47pm – The owner of a silver BMW X3 came back to his car, which was parked in the lot behind Whole Foods, to find the back window smashed out, and a note reading “sorry, softball practice.” Police advised the owner of the car that it was a civil manner, though civility would be a challenge in that circumstance.

2:46pm – A 3-week-old baby was locked in a car on the 1500 block of N. Main St. A tow truck was called, the door unlocked, and the baby was fine.

3:24pm – Two drivers at Ygnacio Valley Rd. and N. Broadway were in a fight due to road rage. Police arrived, a conversation was had, and the two drivers decided it was better to have ice cream than be angry. So they both went off to buy ice cream. The State Department could use these two.

4:43pm – A man crossing the street at Olympic Blvd. and S. California Blvd. was apparently talking on his cell phone when a driver said “get off the phone or I’ll hit you.” To which the pedestrian replied, “I’ll sue you.” To which the driver replied, “you’ll be dead.” The pedestrian took that personally, and called police to report the threat. Police advised the pedestrian, though the record doesn’t show what they said to him. Do you think the words “get off the phone” were involved?

5:26pm – This is definitely a log that demonstrates how grown ups forget how to act like grown ups; on the 100 block of Via Del Sol, a resident told police that his neighbor was in his back yard blowing a dog whistle to torment his neighbor’s dogs. Nice.

6:44pm – A young man was arrested at CVS Pharmacy on suspicion of stealing oxyconton.
