Walnut Creek Man Charged In Attack That Prompted Iron Horse Trail Closure

A 26-year-old man is facing a half dozen counts stemming from a domestic violence incident.

The District Attorney's Office Tuesday filed a range of charges against a 26-year-old man in connection with the beating and sexual assault of his ex-girlfriend that prompted the closure of the Iron Horse Trail.

Andrew Lipiansky is being held in County Jail on $1.5 million bail. He was arrested after surrendering peacefully to Walnut Creek police Friday morning on suspicion of beating and sexually assaulted his ex-girlfriend. He was charged Tuesday with assault with a deadly weapon, sexual battery, penetration with a foreign object, false imprisonment, making criminal threats, and trying to dissuade a witness.

Police set up a perimeter around his Oak Road apartment building early Friday morning. The investigation into the woman's allegations  began shortly after 11 p.m. last Thursday when the woman came to the Police Department, saying she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend.
