Walnut Creek Police Log: Auto Burglaries, ATM Blow Torch, Comic Disagreement

Some of the incidents that kept Walnut Creek police busy a week or so ago

Here are some of the items listed on the Walnut Creek Police Department log from Sept. 21 to Sept. 24.

Saturday, Sept. 21

ATM burglary: Police were notified at 4:53 a.m. of a burglary at an ATM machine on the 1500 block of Marchbanks Drive. Officers discovered someone had smashed the front door of a business and used a blow torch to get inside the ATM machine. Cash was stolen.

Drunk in public: A 40-year-old man was arrested for public intoxication at 1:30 p.m. on the 3000 block of Citrus Circle after his ex-wife reported she could smell alcohol on him when he came to pick up their children.

Sunday, Sept. 22

Auto burglary: Police were notified at 12:09 a.m. that two men were taking things out the back of a pick-up truck parked near Geary Road and Buena Vista Avenue. Officers found the front window of the vehicle smashed, but the suspects were not around. The loss is undetermined.

Comic book argument: A resident on the 1300 block of Mt. Pisgah Road called police at 12:54 a.m. to report two neighbors were arguing over whether D.C. Comics or Marvel Comics were better. Officers advised the apartment manager of the dispute.

Safe stolen: Officers responded at 2:29 a.m. to the 1800 block of Ygnacio Valley Road, where a glass panel had been removed from a front door and a gray safe had been stolen.

Vehicle burglary: Officers were notified at 12:09 p.m. that the front window of a vehicle parked in the 1600 block of Ygnacio Valley Road had been smashed and an iPad and clothing were stolen.

Credit card theft: Police were notified at 5:59 p.m. that a wallet had been stolen from Whole Foods on Newell Avenue and more than $3,000 had already been charged to the victim's credit cards.

Car stolen: Officers were notified at 7:35 p.m. that a 1994 Acura Integra had been stolen from a rear parking lot in the 1800 block of Ygnacio Valley Road.

Wallet stolen: At 9:16 p.m., police were notified about a wallet being stolen in the 2500 block of North Main Street. Several withdrawals and charges were made on the victim's debit card before the account was closed.

Monday, Sept. 23

DUI arrest: A 47-year-old woman was arrested at 12:55 a.m. for driving under the influence after her car was pulled over on the 2100 block of North Main Street.

Bicycle theft: Police were notified at 11:05 a.m. that a men's B21 gray mountain bike had been stolen from a garage in the 1500 block of Second Avenue.

Vehicle burglarized: A car owner called police at 2:31 p.m. to report the window of their black Mercedes had been smashed and an iPad and briefcase had been stolen.

Make-up stolen: Store employees on the 1300 block of Newell Avenue called police at 5:02 p.m. to report $3,500 worth of make-up products had been stolen by two women. The suspects drove off in a silver Chevrolet.

Undergarments stolen: Police were notified at 8:33 p.m. that a woman had grabbed $1,000 worth of undergarments and ran from a store on the 1200 block of Broadway Plaza. The suspect was last seen running toward Locust Street.

Stolen car: Police were informed at 11:37 p.m. that a silver 2011 Lexus had been stolen on the 1400 block of Locust Street.

Tuesday, Sept. 24

Auto burglary: Police were notified at 8:47 a.m. that the window of a vehicle parked on the 1000 block of Ygnacio Valley Road had been smashed and a raincoat and backpack had been stolen.
