Walnut Creek Police Log: Auto Burglaries, Counterfeiting Teen, Assault By Grandma

Some of the incidents that kept Walnut Creek police officers busy late last week

Some of the items from the Walnut Creek Police Department logs on Jan. 16 and Jan. 17.

Thursday, Jan. 16

Vehicle burglary: Police were informed at 7:42 a.m. that a red 2006 Chevrolet Colorado truck had been burglarized in the 2700 block of North Main Street. The thief did a door lock punch and stole a cell phone and paperwork.

Theft of belts: Officers were notified at 11:03 a.m. that a woman had run out of a store with Gucci belts in the 1000 block of South Main Street and then drove off in a black Volkswagen hatchback.

Basketball game assault: Officers were informed by a principal at 12:14 p.m. that a Foothill Middle School student had been assaulted after a basketball game the night before. Police contacted the parents of the suspect.

Auto burglary: Police were informed at 12:52 p.m. that a light blue SUV has been burglarized in the 1500 block of Olympic Boulevard. The thief smashed a window and stole two iPods, headphones and drafting supplies.

Counterfeit bill: An 18-year-old man was arrested at 3:53 p.m. on charges he passed a counterfeit $50 bill at Kara's Cupcakes on Main Street.

Stolen car: Officers were notified at 8:51 p.m. that a black 1999 Honda Civic had been stolen from the third floor of the Plaza Escuela parking lot.

Friday, Jan. 17

Loud talkers: Officers were dispatched at 1:03 a.m. to a report of two guys making a lot of noise from the bike trail behind a store in the 600 block of South Broadway. The two men were contacted and agreed to leave the area.

Groceries stolen: Police were informed at 5:33 p.m. that a gray Toyota Tundra had been burglarized at Larkey Lane and Geary Road. The thief smashed a window and stole a sack with $20 worth of groceries in it.

Assault by grandma: Officers were dispatched at 6:41 p.m. to a home in the 2900 block of Ygnacio Valley Road on a report that a juvenile had been assaulted by her grandmother. The girl agreed to leave and stay at a friend's house

Another auto burglary: Police were notified at 6:54 p.m. that a white Ford F150 truck had been burglarized in the 1400 block of South Main Street. The thief smashed a window and stole a laptop, an iPad and a case.

One more car burglary: Officers were informed at 8:55 p.m. that a black Volkswagen Jetta had been burglarized in a Broadway Plaza parking lot. The thief smashed a window and stole a briefcase.

DUI arrest: A 33-year-old man was arrested at 11:09 p.m. for driving under the influence at North California Boulevard and Mt. Diablo Boulevard.
