Walnut Creek Police Log: Car Burglaries, DUI Arrests, Theft From Unlocked Vehicles

Some of the instances that kept Walnut Creek police officers busy last week

Here are some of the items from the Walnut Creek Police Department logs from Oct. 21 to Oct. 25.

Monday, Oct. 21

Driving under the influence: A 26-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence at 2:15 a.m. at North California Boulevard and LaCassie Avenue.

Stolen car: Police went to a residence in the 400 block of North Civic Drive at 7:50 a.m. for a report of a stolen brown 1986 Toyota truck. There was no sign of broken glass at the scene and the keys were not taken. The truck also had a steering wheel lock in place.

Auto burglary: Officers went to a residence in the 100 block of Park Lake Circle at 11:17 a.m. for a report of a burglary to an auto and an apartment complex's mailboxes. Police determined sunglasses and a compact disc were taken from the car.

Another car burglary: Police went to the Castle Rock Park parking lot at 1:32 p.m. for a report of an auto burglary. They found a vehicle with a window smashed. Items stolen include purse with wallet inside, cell phone and Canon camera.

Two more car burglaries: Officers went to North San Carlos Drive at 7:25 p.m. for a report of some auto burglaries. They found two cars with windows smashed, one in the 300 block and the other in the 500 block. A purse and keys were taken from one vehicle. A purse, keys and sunglasses were taken from the other.

Tuesday, Oct. 22

Stolen car seats: Officers went to a lot in the 2200 block of North Main Street at 7:12 a.m. for a report of a vehicle burglary. A window was smashed on the car and seats and seat belts were taken.

Theft from vehicle: Police were called at 8:58 a.m. by a car owner who said their unlocked Kia Sorrento had been broken into on the 1800 block of Pomar Way. Jewelry, clothing, sunglasses and compact discs were stolen.

Grab and run theft: Officers were alerted at 11:39 a.m. to a grab and theft at a store in the 1200 block of Broadway Plaza. Employees said three women grabbed merchandise and ran out a back door.

Jewelry theft: Officers went to an assisted living facility on the 1500 block of Geary Road at 1:38 p.m. to investigate the theft of $8,000 worth of jewelry from the apartment of a resident.

Another auto burglary: Police were informed at 3:16 p.m. that a Coach purse and $80 in cash was taken from a red Kia Sorrento after its window was smashed while it was parked in the 300 block of North San Carlos Drive.

Another theft from unlocked car: Police were told at 5:10 p.m. by the owner of a blue Toyota Camry that $7,000 worth of cameras and equipment was taken from his unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the 1300 block of Broadway Plaza.

Theft from locker: A man informed police at 11:44 p.m. that his wallet, iPad and iPhone were stolen from a locked locker at a facility in the 2800 block of North Main Street.

Wednesday, Oct. 23

Burglary arrest: A 33-year-old man was arrested for burglary and drug charges after police were informed by witnesses at 5:47 a.m. that they saw a young man on a bicycle going through cars near Croakaerts Street and Central Road.

Auto burglary again: Police were informed at 3:05 p.m. that a blue Honda Civic had been burglarized while parked on the top floor of the Macy's parking lot in Broadway Plaza. A wallet was taken from the vehicle.

Bicycle stolen: Police were alerted at 3:49 p.m. that a gray Denova mountain bike had been stolen from in front of a store in the 1100 block of South Main Street.

DUI arrest: A 47-year-old man was arrested at 10:24 p.m. in the 2300 block of North Main Street for driving under the influence.

Thursday, Oct. 24

Drug arrest: A 46-year-old man was arrested at 10:56 a.m. in the 1600 block of North Main Street for possession of methamphetamine.

Washer, Dryer theft: A resident on Arbolado Drive reported to police at 12:48 p.m. that a washer and dryer had been stolen from their home. There was no sign of forced entry at the home.

Three bicycles stolen: A homeowner on 2300 block of Stewart Avenue called police at 6:53 p.m. to report three bicycles had been taken from his closed, unlocked garage.

Loud cleaners: Police went to a commercial cleaning business on the 1500 block of Geary Road at 11:28 p.m. for a report of a loud power washer being operated. The cleaners' employees were advised of the city noise ordinance and they shut down the operation.

Friday, Oct. 25

Auto theft: Police were informed at 6:37 a.m. that a red 2007 vehicle had been stolen from the second floor of a parking garage in the 300 block of North Civic Drive.

Auto theft arrest: A male juvenile was arrested at 8:02 a.m. for auto theft and other charges after witnesses saw him sleeping in a GMC Sierra truck in a parking lot in the 2800 block of Ygnacio Valley Road.

Car stolen: Police were informed at 2:40 p.m. that a red, white and blue 1993 Honda had been stolen overnight from the 1300 block of Oakland Boulevard.

One more auto burglary: Officers were told at 3:40 p.m. that a stereo was stolen from an older blue sedan after its window was broken while it was parked in the 100 block of Masters Court.
