Walnut Creek Police Log: Car Burglaries, Tip Jar Theft, Metal Panel Arrests

Some of the incidents that kept Walnut Creek police busy last weekend

Some of the items listed on the Walnut Creek Police Department logs from Dec. 6 to Dec. 8.

Friday, Dec. 6

Tip jar theft: Officers were notified at 10:19 a.m. that a tip jar had been stolen previous evening from a business in Broadway Plaza. The loss was $12. The store has video of the suspect. The investigation is ongoing.

Juvenile marijuana: A juvenile was cited for possession of marijuana at 11:34 a.m. in the 1400 block of South Main Street.

Car burglary: Police were notified at 11:43 a.m. that an automobile had been broken into while parked at the dog park on North San Carlos Drive. A purse and an iPhone were taken.

Another car burglary: Officers were informed at 11:59 a.m. that another car had been burglarized at the tennis courts at Heather Farm Park. A window was smashed, but it's unknown if any items were taken.

Auto Theft: Police were notified at 2:46 p.m. that a 1994 Honda Accord had been stolen in the 2000 block of Treat Boulevard.

Car burglary: A guest at the Marriott Hotel informed police at 10:15 p.m. that a hammer had been thrown through the window of their silver Jeep Grand Cherokee while it was in the hotel parking lot. A backpack from stolen.

Saturday, Dec. 7

DUI arrest: A 36-year-old man was arrested at 1:36 a.m. for driving under the influence after his car was stopped in the 200 block of Firestone Drive.

Another DUI: A 27-year-old man was arrested at 2:22 a.m. for driving under the influence after his car was stopped in the 1200 block of California Boulevard.

Pressure washer stolen: Police were notified at 12:28 p.m. that a pressure washer had been stolen in the 3300 block of Valley Vista Road.

Auto burglary: Officers were informed at 1:12 p.m. that a white Honda had been broken into in the 1400 block of Creekside Drive. A cell phone, a red bag and a binder were stolen.

Stolen backpack: Police were informed at 6:18 p.m. that an unattended backpack had been taken from the 2200 block of Lariat Lane. A cell phone and other items were inside the bag.

DUI arrest: A 23-year-old man was arrested at 11:40 p.m. for driving under the influence after his car was stopped at Buskirk Avenue and Treat Boulevard.

Sunday, Dec. 8

Assault arrest: A 26-year-old man was arrested for assault at 2:13 a.m. after he attacked another man inside a garage in the 300 block of Pimlico Drive.

Store theft: Officers were notified at 5:04 a.m. that $400 had been stolen from a business in the 2000 block of North Main Street. The thief had broken a rear window.

Metal panel theft arrests: A 65-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman were arrested at 7:16 a.m. for stealing metal panels off the garage at Kaiser hospital in the 1400 block of South Main Street.

Bicycle stolen: Officers were notified at 8:20 a.m. that a $550 mountain bike had been stolen from a patio in the 1800 block of Pomar Way.

Car burglary: Police were informed at 12:01 p.m. that a white Ford pick-up truck had been broken into in the 1300 block of Creekside Drive. Art supplies were stolen.

Storage unit theft: Officers were notified at 5:25 p.m. that a storage unit had been burglarized in the 100 block of Sharene Lane. A bicycle, a stroller and a car seat were taken.
