WCPD: Bridge Trolls & Mailbox Jimmiers

Also window-washing angst and other stressful, ill-advised and criminal acts reported to the Walnut Creek police from March 30 to April 1.

March 30
Lights out. An outside lamp at a residence on the 3700 block of Perada Drive had been shot out. It was reported to Walnut Creek police at 9:32 a.m.

Graffiti bust. A 29-year-old man was arrested on charges of vandalism and possession of vandalism tools. He was believed to have painted graffiti at the Chevron property on the 1500 block of Geary Road, and officers found him at the Sprouts market with a paint can.

Bridge trolls. At 7:08 p.m., there were reports of four juveniles throwing things over the railing of the pedestrian overcrossing on South Broadway south of Las Lomas High at passing cars. They were gone upon officers' arrival.

March 31
Farmers market parking. Around 5:30 a.m., officers oversaw while four vehicles were towed in the 1700 block of Locust Street to make way for the weekly farmers market.

Mailboxes jimmied. Multiple mailboxes on the 1000 block of Northoak Drive had locks punched out. The loss was unknown. Officers reported the case to postal inspectors.

I feel the same way about washing windows. At 12:52 p.m., officers received a report of a man screaming while he washed windows at Locust Street and Mount Diablo Boulevard. Officers came and couldn't locate the screamer.


April 1
Toothbrushes get more expensive. At 11:34 a.m. on the 2900 block of North Main Street, there was a report of the theft of $700 worth of Sonicare toothbrushes by a black male in his 30s, reported as heavyset. A store staffer told officers the theft was captured on video. Police are investigating.
