A Peek Inside the Gates of Rossmoor

Take a bus tour inside the storied gated community as part of the city's "Second Saturday" program.

If you don't live in Rossmoor, or have relatives who do, chances are you have never seen the community first-hand. Visitors without business or relatives there are turned away at the gate. Even reporters are referred to the Rossmoor News offices when something newsworthy goes on within its confines.

But as part of Walnut Creek's "Second Saturday Spotlight" series, a bus tour of Rossmoor is being offered to the general public on August 10.

There is a lot to see. Rossmoor, which celebrates its 50th anniversary next year, is 1,800 acres of open space, neighborhoods, and recreation. 10,000 people live there in 6,800 homes.

The program starts promptly at 9 a.m. and will conclude at 10:30 a.m. Parking will be provided outside of Rossmoor; details will be emailed to registrants.

Due to space limits, pre-registration is required. Priority is given to those living outside of Rossmoor. For more information, as well as a link to registration, go to www.walnut-creek.org/spotlight.
