Planning Commission Approves Expansion Of Golf Course Clubhouse

The plans call for doubling the size of the restaurant and clubhouse facility at Diablo Hills Golf Course

The Walnut Creek Planning Commission on Thursday night approved plans to more than double the size of the clubhouse facility at the Diablo Hills Golf Course.

The plans call for adding 7,108 square feet to the existing 25-foot tall, 6,257-square-foot Greenery Restaurant and clubhouse on the 9-hole golf course near Heather Farm Park.

The facility sits on the 2.9-acre parcel at the front entrance of the golf course.

The larger facility will have a better view and be able to handle special events, said Wood.

The maintenance equipment now on the back side of the building will be housed underneath the second floor, out of view.

The plans also call for the continuation of the live entertainment and dancing that is currently held in the establishment.

planning department report states the expanded facility is not expected to cause any adverse litter, noise, parking or other problems.

Several proposed conditions are recommended by city planners. They include making sure customers don’t loiter in the parking lot after business hours, the prohibition of alcohol sales promotions such as ladies night and the restriction that alcohol sales cannot exceed food sales during any quarterly period.
