Walk the Open Spaces Saturday

Second Saturday walk with Mayor Bob Simmons takes in Sugarloaf and Shell Ridge open space.

September's "Second Saturday Walk with the Mayor" heads to the open space on Saturday.

Walkers meet at 8:30 a.m. at  the Orchard Trail sign at Sugarloaf Open Space, 2161 Youngs Valley Road. The 4-mile walk, led by Mayor Bob Simmons, will venture into Sugarloaf and Shell Ridge open space areas before returning to the Sugarloaf Open Space parking area. Most of the walking will be done on paved and hard dirt trails, but there will be some areas of uneven terrain, so walkers are advised to wear sturdy shoes.

No need to register in advance. Be sure to bring water and wear sunscreen. For more information, visit www.walnut-creek.org/walks.

Please note that the October walk will actually take place on the third Saturday of the month, Oct. 20. More information on that walk will be posted on the Walnut Creek Walks webpage in early October.
