Walnut Creek 100th Anniversary Signs Go Up

City workers installed the banners in the downtown area on Wednesday morning

Banners highlighting Walnut Creek's 100th anniversary are now up in the downtown area.

City workers installed the banners on Wednesday morning along the Main Street corridor.

The city and other organizations plan a series of events this year to mark the 100th anniversary of Walnut Creek's incorporation on Oct. 21, 1914.

The first official event is the "Flappers & Flasks" celebration at the Lesher Center for the Arts on Friday, Jan. 24.

The event will re-create an early 1900s speakeasy bar, so the event is for adults only.
