Northgate High Pool Project Gets Final Approval From District

Mt. Diablo board of education unanimously the aquatic center plan at its meeting Wednesday night

The new aquatic center at Northgate High School was officially approved by the Mt. Diablo Unified School District board of education on Wednesday evening.

The board voted 5-0 to approve the plans for the center, which will include a 25-yard by 40-meter pool as well as sports medicine classroom and lab.

The groundbreaking for the $7.5 million center is tentatively scheduled for next month. It's scheduled to open next summer.

The construction contract with Kenridge Builders was approved by the board in September.

Last month, Northgate officials held a community meeting to try to ease concerns from neighbors and others about the noise and other potential problems the aquatic center may cause.
