Berean Christian Still Alive in Baseball, Softball Playoffs

Both teams play in quarterfinal games on Saturday

With the Las Lomas High softball team's 5-1 loss to Concord and the Northgate baseball team's 2-1 loss to Rancho Cotate, Berean Christian's baseball and softball teams are Walnut Creek's only remaining postseason participants.

Baseball: After a 13-10 regular season, the Berean baseball team landed the No. 6 seed in the North Coast Section Division IV playoffs and opened with a 9-4 win against No. 11 Clear Lake on Wednesday.

Devin Alexander threw a complete-game six-hitter for the Eagles, who'll play at No. 3 Justin Siena in Napa on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Softball: Berean put together an impressive 7-5 record in the Diablo Valley Athletic League to earn the No. 3 seed in the Division IV softball playoffs and received a first-round bye.  The Eagles will host No. 11 Marin Catholic on Saturday at noon at Heather Farms.

Alex McCullough leads the team with a .475 batting average, six home runs and 32 RBI's on the year. Her bat, combined with the pitching of Jessie Griffith makes the Eagles a strong contender for the NCS title.
