Women's Pro Soccer Film Screening

Last week, news broke that the Women's Professional Soccer League canceled its 2012 season because of their ongoing struggle to financially sustain themselves. On Friday, we'll screen The 90th Minute - a film about the former Bay Area women's professional team, FC Gold Pride, and talk about the future of women's soccer.

The film takes you inside the lives of three ambitious players with an unpredictable future in the world of women’s professional soccer. Former FC Gold Pride players Ali Riley, Kim Yokers and Rosie Tantillo share some of the highest and lowest points of their careers as professional soccer players.

The 90th Minute is also an official selection of the Portland Oregon Women's Film Festival and Newfilmmakers LA! It sheds light on what it’s like to be a female professional soccer player today – a decade after the 1999 Women’s World Cup when players like Mia Hamm and Brandi Chastain inspired girls across the country to play the sport.
