Festival Eve Features Special Needs Night

Nine hundred special needs kids and adults take over the Midway.

The evening before the official opening of the Walnut Festival, the festival association throws the Midway open to children (and adults) with special needs.

That was the scene Wednesday evening at Heather Farm Park.

Special Needs Night means a pleasant evening of rides without the congestion of normal festival hours, said association volunteer Wendy DeVoe. It's provided free, along with food and T-shirts, thanks to the sponsorship of Midway of Fun, Dominos Pizza, Fuddruckers and Steel Smokin' BBQ.
