Hundreds of East Bay girls will be practicing leadership and self-confidence in Concord this weekend in a soccer clinic about "taking the world by storm" on and off the field.

The free event hosted by Assemblywoman Susan Bonilla is designed for girls ages 9 to 18 and takes place Saturday, Aug. 3, at Tesoro Soccer Fields at 1743 Arnold Industrial Way in Concord. The clinic will be led by members of the women's semi-professional soccer team, the California Storm.

Almost 200 girls from across the East Bay have pre-registered for this year’s soccer clinic, according to Bonilla's office.

"The goal of the soccer clinic is to help promote confidence and leadership in young girls while having a great workout with some outstanding role models," according to a press release.

This year’s soccer clinic will open with the national anthem sung by "American Idolcontestant Brianna Oakley of Antioch.
